Sept. 1919 The first president, Hoshu Hayashi, founded The Obihiro Newspaper, Inc. In November, he started publishing The Obihiro Newspaper every ten days.
Apr. 1920 The paper was renamed The Tokachi Mainichi Newspaper.

Oct. 1936 Designated as the newspaper to represent eastern Hokkaido newspapers when the Emperor visited. It was the newspaper he read.
June 1939 Merged with old The Hokkaido Times under the name The Tokachi Mainichi Newspaper as part of the government's control on speech during wartime.
Oct. 1942 To unify all Hokkaido newspapers, The Hokkaido Newspaper Co., Ltd. was started and The Tokachi Mainichi Newspaper become a part of it.
Jan. 1946 Returned as a weekly after the war ended.
July 1952 Started publishing a 2-page newspaper daily.
Jan. 1962 Became a member of the Japan Newspaper Association.
Feb. 1964 Cosponsored the First Obihiro Ice Festival.
Mar. 1964 Made a special arrangement with Jiji Times and set up a short-wave radio fax. Started to receive Jiji Fax News.
Oct. 1969 Commemorated the 50th anniversary of its founding by beginning construction on a new five-story building.
June 1971 Introduced a high speed rotary press with a mono color auto folder made by Ikegai Corporation, which could print a maximum of 80,000 copies an hour.
Oct. 1972 Received a testimonial at the ceremony for the 90th anniversary of Obihiro's founding and the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the city administration. Published the commemorative album, The History of Obihiro.
Apr. 1976 Introduced an offset high speed rotary press. It was the first step to implementing a new system called CTS (Cold Type System). Constructed a new printing factory and started printing on July 1. The Tokachi Mainichi Newspaper grew to about 12 pages.
Mar. 1979 Introduced a composing machine and an automatic phototypesetting and plate arranging system. Switched to computerized editing and proofreading. Adopted 14 different phototypesetting styles.
Oct. 1979 Held the 60th anniversary ceremony of the company's founding.
Apr. 1981 Introduced a computerized proofreading machine.
Mar. 1982 Set up Kachimai Salon, an art exhibition gallery, on the seventh floor of Fujimaru Department Store.
June 1982 Opened the First Kachimai Home Center.
July 1982 Held Tokachi Exposition in commemoration of the centennial anniversary of Obihiro's founding.
Jan. 1983 Circulation reached 50,000.
Oct. 1984 Introduced a computerized phototypesetting machine and a computer proof machine. A 13-letter-a-line style was adopted.
May 1985 Joined the Japan ABC (Audit Bureau of Circulations) Association.
June 1985 Introduced a high speed offset rotary press, which could print 60,000 copies per hour.
July 1985 Completed construction on a new seven-story office building.
Aug. 1985 Started Obihiro City Cable Television.
Oct. 1985 Held the 65th Anniversary Ceremony.
June 1986 Circulation reached 60,000.
Aug. 1988 Completed construction of the new Hiroo Branch Office building.
Nov. 1988 President Katsumi Hayashi received the Fourth Class Order of the Zuiho Prize from the Emperor.
July 1989 Introduced the Jiji News Agency's data correspondence system "JACS" to promote an efficient phototypesetting process.
Oct. 1989 Held the 70th Anniversary Ceremony.
Apr. 1990 Set up "Mina," a computerized information terminal, in the Japan Railways Obihiro Station.
Apr. 1990 Introduced word processors for reporters to write articles.
Oct. 1990 Circulation reached 70,000.

Nov. 1990 Vice President Masami Hayashi received the Sixth Class Order of Kiyokujitsu from the Emperor.

June 1991 Printed the 20,000th edition.
July 1991 Set up an editorial annex at the Tokyo Branch Office.
July 1992 Held Midorium '92 in commemoration of the 110th anniversary of Obihiro's founding.
Dec. 1992 Presented Symphony Tokachi to Obihiro City.

May 1994 Started "Tokachi Millennium Forest" project and planted 24,000 trees in Haobi, Shimizu.

Apr. 1997 Opened Tokachi Beer brewery and restaurant.
Oct. 1997 Started carrying translated articles from USA Today.
July 1998 Obihiro City Cable subscribers reached 20,000.
July 1998 Started the first free paper in Tokachi, Chai (20-page, full-color tabloid-sized, 100,000 copies).
May 1999 Obihiro City Cable started the internet-access service, "RUN LAN," using its cable network.
June 1999 Completed the extension of the printing factory and introduced "Tower Color Top CT6000," a most-advanced, high-speed offset newspaper printer made by Tokyo Kikai Seisakusho, Ltd. that can print a 40-page paper including 16 color pages, 150,000 copies per hour.
Oct. 1999 Held the 80th anniversary ceremony.
June 2001 Circulation reached 90,000.
June 2002 Kachimai Home Center celebrated its 20th anniversary. In 33 home shows 400 houses were displayed .
July 2002 Demeter—Tokachi International Contemporary Art Exhibition was held to commemorate the 120th anniversary of Obihiro's founding.
Sept. 2002 Opened a goat cheese factory and Cafe de Kisara at Tokachi Millennium Forest.
Dec. 2002 Held Kachimai Home Center 20th anniversary ceremony.
Apr. 2003 Obihiro City Cable started FTTH service.
Jan. 2004 Opened "Sanyo-an," the annex of Daiichi Hotel.

Established the restaurant management company Green Story Corporation.

Oct. 2006 Green Story Corp. opened the restaurant “Otoriyose Dining Tokachiya.”
June 2007 “Sanyo-an,” the annex of Daiichi Hotel, was selected as a “Hotel with the Finest Service,” It was the first small hotel in Hokkaido awarded the title.
July 2007 The Head Office of Tokachi Mainichi Newspaper Inc. and the Advertising Insert Division of its affiliate company Kachimai Service obtained ISO14001 (the international standards for the environmental management system) certification.
Sept. 2007 Signed an agreement with the Yomiuri and Asahi newspapers to print Asahi Newspaper, in addition to Yomiuri Newspaper, the printing of which began in July 1999. It was the first case that these two newspapers were printed in the same factory.
Oct. 2007 Obihiro City Cable started the optical TV service.
Oct. 2007 Started, in conjunction with the Obihiro University of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, research on producing bioethanol using waste paper and cellulosic materials, as a part of the Tokachi Mainichi Newspaper 90th anniversary project.
