The Editorial Department is at the frontlines in the search for news in Tokachi. Approximately 40 reporters cover areas such as politics, the economy, culture, sports, crime and education. They aggressively gather news, not only in Tokachi but also within and beyond the borders of Hokkaido (including foreign countries), in order to write fresh, informative articles. This is made easier by having offices in Sapporo, Hokkaido's capital, and Tokyo, the nation's capital. In addition, there is a 24-hour connection with several press agencies. We also carry articles from Bloomberg News, a financial newswire.

We identify issues and problems in Tokachi and research national and international trends and conditions in search of possible solutions. We make suggestions, based on our findings, for the future of Tokachi through serialized articles and annual campaigns. These efforts have resulted in our readers paying us the highest compliment by saying, "Read the Kachimai first if you want to know about what is happening in Tokachi." Tokachi Mainichi Newspaper, Inc. endeavors to provide, through our newspapers and website, news that keeps pace with our global society.
